Short version: your snippets never leave your Mac, and we don’t track you. Last updated October 9, 2026.
The OnePaste app
Your library stays on your Mac. Everything you save in OnePaste — links, numbers, addresses, card details — is stored in a file on your Mac at ~/Library/Application Support/OnePaste/. It isn’t uploaded, synced or shared with us or anyone else. You can export or delete it at any time.
No account, no analytics. OnePaste has no sign-in and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code. We don’t know what you save or how often you use it.
Accessibility access. macOS requires this permission for OnePaste to notice your double-tap and to paste into other apps. OnePaste watches only for its trigger key and for the keys you press while its overlay is open; it does not record, store or send what you type. It also asks the focused app where your text cursor is, so the overlay can appear next to it.
Smart Fill. When you double-tap, OnePaste reads the labels of the form fields on your screen (“Email”, “PIN code”) to suggest or fill the right answers. It notes only whether a field already has something in it — never what’s typed there — and keeps nothing once the overlay closes. It never fills password, hidden or off-screen fields and never submits a form. In Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc, which don’t share web pages through Accessibility, it does the same through a small script that runs in the page you’re on, only after you turn on that browser’s “Allow JavaScript from Apple Events” setting and allow it in macOS. OnePaste also remembers, on your Mac, which saved answer you used on which site or app, so it can suggest it first next time; you can clear this in Settings.
Clipboard. To paste, OnePaste briefly places your snippet on the clipboard and then restores your previous clipboard contents. Items marked sensitive are labelled so that clipboard managers skip them, and are cleared from the clipboard after one minute when copied.
Claude (optional, off by default). If you connect Claude in Settings — with your own Anthropic API key or the Claude Code app on your Mac — OnePaste sends Anthropic what’s needed for the feature you use, and nothing else: for “Ask Claude”, your request, the app or site you’re in and your saved details; for “Import from anything”, the text you paste; for Smart Fill help, the labels of fields it didn’t recognise (never what’s typed in them). PAN, Aadhaar, card and bank account numbers — and anything you mark sensitive — are replaced with placeholders before sending, and OnePaste puts the real values back on your Mac. Anthropic handles this data under its own terms and privacy policy. If you add OnePaste to Claude Desktop or Claude Code, Claude can look up your saved details when you ask it to, with sensitive values masked.
When OnePaste goes online. Only in two cases, and nothing from your library is ever sent:
- Importing from a web page, when you ask. OnePaste downloads that single page from the address you entered, like a browser would — the website sees a normal request from your Mac.
- Claude, only if you connect it and use its features (see above).
- Your license. When you enter a license key, OnePaste sends the key and your Mac’s name to our payment and license provider, Dodo Payments, to activate it. About once a week it checks the key is still valid; if it can’t connect, it keeps working.
Contacts. If you choose “Import from my contact card”, macOS asks for permission and OnePaste reads only your own “My Card” to suggest snippets. Nothing is imported until you confirm, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Purchases
Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our reseller and merchant of record. They collect what’s needed to process your order (such as your name, email address, billing country and payment details) under their own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address and order details so we can deliver the app, send receipts and handle refunds and support. We never see your full card details.
This website
This site doesn’t use cookies or third-party analytics. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and reliability; these are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.
If you email us, we use your message only to reply and help you. We don’t send marketing emails unless you explicitly sign up for them.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you (in practice, only order and support emails), and ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to privacy@onepaste.app. Data stored by the app is on your Mac and fully under your control.
Children
OnePaste isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted in the changelog.
