Frequently asked questions

What is OnePaste?

A native Mac app that keeps the things people keep asking you for — links, email, phone, address, ID numbers, UPI and card details — one double-tap away. Double-tap Option in any app, pick from a small overlay at your cursor, and it’s pasted where you were typing.

How do I open OnePaste?

Tap the Option (⌥) key twice, quickly, in any app. You can switch the trigger to Command, Control or Shift in Settings, or open it from the menu-bar icon.

Is OnePaste a text expander?

Not quite. Text expanders replace abbreviations you type, so you need to remember them. OnePaste is visual and searchable — there’s nothing to memorize. Many people use OnePaste for their everyday details and keep a text expander for long templates.

Is it a clipboard manager?

No. Clipboard managers keep a history of everything you copied. OnePaste is a curated library of the things you deliberately save. They work well together, and OnePaste marks sensitive values so clipboard managers skip them.

Which apps does it work with?

Any app you can type in — Mail, Messages, Slack, WhatsApp, Notion, Figma, Microsoft Office, and browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Arc and Firefox.

Why does the overlay sometimes open in the middle of the screen?

Some apps don’t tell macOS where the text cursor is. In those cases OnePaste opens centered on your screen instead — pasting still works the same way.

Where is my data stored?

In a file on your Mac (~/Library/Application Support/OnePaste). There’s no account, no cloud sync and no analytics in the app.

Is it safe to store PAN, Aadhaar or card numbers?

OnePaste masks them in the overlay, hides them from clipboard managers when copied, wipes them from the clipboard after a minute, and keeps the overlay out of screen sharing. The library file is protected by your Mac’s user account and FileVault disk encryption if you have it on.

Does OnePaste change my clipboard?

Only for a moment. It pastes, then restores whatever you had copied before.

Can I use it during video calls?

Yes. The overlay is excluded from screen sharing and recordings, so you can paste details without showing your list to everyone.

How do I add my links quickly?

The welcome tour lets you fill in common links by handle, or import from your website or link-in-bio page, your Contacts card, or a list pasted from Notion, Apple Notes or a spreadsheet.

Can I split a snippet into parts, like a card?

Yes. Multi-field snippets hold several values — card number, expiry, CVV, name — and let you paste each one separately.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Pasting and Smart Fill work entirely on your Mac. OnePaste only goes online to read a page you ask it to import from, and to activate your license (then a short check about once a week). Your snippets never leave your Mac.

Can OnePaste fill a whole form?

Yes — that’s Smart Fill. Double-tap in any field of a form and OnePaste shows every field it recognises with the answer it will use: name, email, phone, links, address, PAN, GSTIN, card details and more. Press Return to fill them all, Space to skip one, or ← → to switch between saved answers. It never fills password or hidden fields and never submits the form.

Does Smart Fill work in Chrome?

Yes, after a one-time setup: in Chrome choose View › Developer › Allow JavaScript from Apple Events, then in OnePaste’s Settings switch on “Use Smart Fill in Chrome, Edge, Brave & Arc” and choose Allow when macOS asks. Edge, Brave and Arc work the same way. Safari and Mac apps need no setup.

Does OnePaste use AI?

Only if you want it to. Connect Claude in Settings — with your own API key or Claude Code — and you can type a request like “invoice details for Northwind” and have Claude write it from your saved details, import details from any text, and recognise unusual form fields. PAN, Aadhaar, card and account numbers never reach Claude: it sees placeholders and OnePaste fills in the real values on your Mac. Everything else in OnePaste works without AI.

Is there a free trial?

No. OnePaste is paid-only — a one-time purchase of $19. If it isn’t right for you, email us within 14 days for a full refund.

What are the system requirements?

A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

Is OnePaste free?

No. The download is free, but OnePaste needs a license key to work: a one-time purchase of $19 with a 14-day money-back guarantee. There’s no subscription.

Is there an iPhone or Windows version?

Not today. OnePaste is made for the Mac.

How do I get help?

Email hello@onepaste.app. In OnePaste’s Settings, ‘Copy Details’ copies your version and setup so we can help faster.
